untitled-1

Yavuz Tanyeli is at ALANistanbul in October with his recent works that examine the current social and political productions that are investigated in a critical context. The artist creates an area of intellectual expression in high aesthetics by combining his specific aesthetic approach of painting with ironic metaphors.Tanyeli’s “Age of Praise” exhibition can be seen between 20 October and 11 November 2011.“Science, Art, Philosophy and Technology are the main elements of the creation enduring the modern civilization. We owe them the ongoing life form what we called “modern world”. The motto that fulfills this path we are walking on is ‘I think, therefore I am.’ This expression that defines the thoughts and actions of the human, has started to change faster in some regions of the world while slower in others. This change has swiftly started to evolve into a state of ‘I praise, therefore I am’. In societies where if there is a strong influence of the religion, we can deem the “praising phase” as a part of daily life, however in the world’s most developed countries, briefly,  we see that ‘praising’  implies to the settling. Today, we praise capitalism besides democracy, God and the internet as well as the wars. There are many symbols of praise like the cross, the minaret, the bell or the pyramid. Among these, I chose the image of rosary and used it as a symbol in my latest paintings and sculptures. The works will be displayed in ALAN Istanbul on 20 October 2011are the representations of my latest works built upon the “praise” concept. I hope you like it and that it will make us all think about issue of   “praising” once more”.
