ALAN Istanbul, one day before the World’s Women Day, integrates debate on women and perception of women with the emphasis of artist’s persona and invites her audience to face internal judgment beyond cultural coding.

Why woman evolved as one of the most difficult question marks of history of the civilization? A being struggling with masculine language, outstanding cultural encoding and constantly suffering from malfunction… A battle field focused on the weakness of the patriarchal domination…Catalyst for the libidinous economy… An “object petit a” whose desire is indescribable!

“Woman Does not Exist”

Thus, Lacan asserts his hypothesis;

“Woman is a symptom of the man”, but nothing else. Fascinating presence masks the structural Real, accordingly, yet when been rejected, all of her ontological consistency is being lost.

In cult patriarchal sayings, myths, legends and tales the status of woman is defined: woman is sin of man, guilty conscience and a misleading curse. Eve is not someone who completes Adam, but a flaw made of his overage. If we set aside the myths of genesis, born of Athena myth comes on the scene at the end, woman is the headache of man. Athena is created form the headache of Zeus.

“Women; Beautiful but Alone” exhibition is looking for the expression of the unspoken fact by the mediums of contemporary art. By means of visuality, exhibition takes the audience to their personal journey of voiceless promises on the borders of sexist language. “Woman; Beautiful but Alone” can be seen in ALAN Istanbul, from 7th of March until 1st of April.
