Red & Black
ALANistanbul opens its new venue Selma Gürbüz with his solo exhibition “red & black”.
In this respect, it is aimed to create a stronger focus for contemporary art in Istanbul and to contribute to the cultural circulation of the city with 2 separate art spaces as ALANistanbul -I and ALANistanbul -II.
This exhibition, which will be the first part of a trilogy with two separate exhibitions of Selma Gürbüz’s work in London, includes the artist’s handmade red and black portraits on paper made in Paris in 2006-2007, as well as a contemporary canvas from Gürbüz’s 2010 period.
The artist’s first exhibition of 2011, “red & black” at ALANistanbul – II, will be followed by two solo exhibitions in London. Between February 23 and April 9, 2011, Gürbüz’s works on paper from 2003-2006 will be on view at the Leighton House Museum and his new oil canvases will be on view at the Rose Issa Project.
The exhibition can be seen at ALANistanbul- II until February 11, 2011.
